What is in the health pack
A new practice fits out once: chairs, instruments, consumables, practice software and a service contract, almost all of it settled before the first patient walks in. These are the trades we report, in the week they appear.
Dentists and oral care
Dental practices, dental clinics, hygienists, orthodontists and dental laboratories. The heaviest fit-out in the pack by some distance, with chairs, imaging, sterilisation and a long consumables tail, and a service relationship that tends to outlast the equipment.
Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy practices and clinics, plus manual therapy, osteopathy and chiropractic. Treatment tables, equipment, practice software and a steady consumables order, often opened by practitioners leaving a larger group to start their own room. Small partnerships are the common shape here.
General practice
GP practices and family medicine, including the new locations opened by existing groups. Long-cycle buyers of medical supply, furniture and information systems, and a market where being on the list before the doors open matters more than price. Groups expand by opening sites.
Opticians and hearing care
Opticians, optometrists and hearing aid specialists. Frame, lens and device suppliers meet a shop that is choosing its ranges and its display for the first time, which is the one moment the assortment is genuinely open. Independent shops and franchise sites both turn up here.
Pharmacies
Pharmacies and dispensing points. Fewer openings than the other trades here, but each one is a substantial and long-lived account, so a current list is worth more than a large one. Fit-out, robotics and shopfitting are decided at once and not revisited quickly.
And a good deal more
The pack also carries psychologists and mental health practices, dietitians and nutritionists, speech therapists, occupational therapists, podiatrists, midwives and pregnancy care, acupuncture and alternative practice, medical centres and denture care. Most open quietly.
